How and why to eat fruits
Fruits are one of nature’s most gratifying gifts to mankind. They are a pure delight to our senses, and certainly enjoyed by many of us. Yet the modern societal trends are turning us more and more towards meat and fat-rich foods. Here are some of the reasons why we should eat fruit:
Fruits contain natural sugars that stimulate the brain. Brain functions such as memory are thus reinforced.
Fruits contain a lot of fibers that help fight against obesity, high blood pressure, and other heart disease factors. Certain schools of thought on the subject think that the amount of fibers consumed may be a more important factor in heart disease than the amount of fat consumed.
Fruit is completely free of bad cholesterol unlike, meat and fat-rich foods.
Fruits are packed with vitamins, and are the best source of vitamins in the human diet.
Fruits are rich in anti-oxidants which fight against cancer-causing free radicals that are produced through the other parts of our diet (e.g. proteins and fats).
People who consume a lot of fruit have been found to live longer – a study published in the British Medical Journal has found. The study confirmed that people consuming fruit have 32% less chance of developing stroke and 24% less chance of having a heart attack.
However, even people who consume lots of fruit rarely do it right. Fruit does not combine well with other foods. This is simply because fruits contain simple sugars that do not need to be digested (unlike other more complex foods). They thus do not need to remain in the stomach for very long. Thus if fruit is consumed after a meal, it is likely to remain in the stomach and ferment. This results in digestive problems. Fruits should thus be eaten alone.

Keep in mind that fruits contain sugar, even if it is natural sugar, in large quantities is it not healthy. So, eat an apple per day, it is enough. Take a look at The Dangers of Too Much Fruit .
